Healthy but Deadly Gluten-free Brownies

Recently, I have been experimenting with organic foods, dairy-free and vegan recipes. And I can't forget ALL of the veggies! On my new venture, I have been searching for healthy dessert recipes to quench my sweet tooth. My Mom introduced me to this scrumptious recipe: Gluten-free Brownies!

 Mix together ingredients.

1/2 cup flour blend*
1/3 cup cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup pure canned pumpkin
1/4 cup butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 cup chopped walnuts
1/3 cup chocolate chips

*2 cups sorghum flour
 2 cups potato starch
1/2 cup coconut flour
1/2 cup brown rice flour
1 tbsp. xanthan gum

Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray an 8x8 inch pan. Bake for 25 minutes.
For all of those calorie counters out there, this makes 16 servings and 110 calories per serving.
(Not bad if you need something sweet after dinner!)

There will be more experiments and recipes coming as I embark on this organic, dairy-free adventure!

Jumbo Taco Salad

I have never been a fan of perfectly calculating every bite of a taco especially when it always seems to spill all over! My solution...a Jumbo Taco Salad.

I start out with romaine lettuce, tortilla chips along with my special ingredients - avocado and corn.

Of course you add the taco beef  and cheese.

Don't forget the salsa and sour cream!

Duct Tape Flower Pens

It may be known that real men use duct tape. Well...so do real women!
I needed to get a gift for someone and thought that I would save a few dollars by making the gift myself. I have seen some great homemade gifts made out of duct tape! (My cousin is quite the expert.)
I saw this great idea of a bouquet of duct tape flower pens and thought this would be perfect.

All you need is colourful duct tape and some pens.

You cut a small rectangular piece of duct tape to start. Then fold one edge in.

And fold the other side in.

Wrap it around the end of the pen and keep going!

TA-DA! You have your duct tape flower pen bouquet!

I put my bouquet in a glass vase with crystal vase filler and tied a ribbon around.
A great homemade gift!

If black is the new pink, blogging is the new Facebook.
Blogging is a way of sharing your ideas with the world! And there are so many fabulous ideas out there that I wanted to share the ones that I love. These blogs are ones that I visit regularly and inspire me to try new things!

There will be more to come...

The Ruby Slipper

A few years ago my friend introduced me to The Ruby Slipper - a cute Vintage Shop here in Winnipeg. Not only is this a vintage shop, it is also a consignment store (which is great for shopaholics like me)! Consignment stores - for those of you who don't know - take gently used clothes and resell them. So for the regular shoppers, this is a perfect spot to sell clothes and BUY more!

Back then I was inexperienced at this kind of shopping and hesitantly rummaged through the racks of clothes. But over the years (and with practice) I have become an expert consignment shopper!

I went to drop off some summer clothes that didn't work for me anymore and found some great gems!

I found this white studded tank for under $10.

Casual black and white Melissa dress with original tags!

Super adorable navy and white wedges - great for work- ONLY $7!!

Jessica Simpson black wedges - $4.50 (BEST purchase of the day!)

The best part - even though the prices are SO reasonable - my purchases were taken off of my "tab". (The money that I have built up from the clothes I've sold allows me to buy lots of new clothes!)

Decadent Breakfast

After moving out, I have been trying new recipes with foods that I haven't used before. I have also gotten into the habit of buying foods that are almost overdue. This may sound gross but it is great for experimenting with different recipes! It puts the pressure on to find recipes and try different things!

My most recent buy was 50% off ricotta cheese! How could I say "no"?

So my first experiment - which, I know, wasn't that risky - was Ricotta Cheese Pancakes!

1 cup ricotta cheese
3 eggs
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1/2 cup flour
2/3 cup milk

Whisk ingredients together and bake in a pan.
If your looking for a more decadent and rich pancake, these are the ones to go to!
